Worship, Preaching, and Prayers

North Highland worships inside of the People's Cathedral

Here is a sample of what worship at North Highland is like:

Prelude

Call to Worship

One: If you seek practical help for your life and relationships, listen for God’s instruction as we worship.

All:  If you seek encouragement and support to make it through each day, listen for the love God’s family has for you, as we worship.

One: If you seek justice and mercy for life inside and outside of this sanctuary, listen for the direction of God’s call as we worship.

All:  As we seek help and relationships and justice, let us worship the living God.

Hymn 412 Eternal God, Whose Power Upholds

Prayer of Confession adapted from Romans 8:26-29

One: The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words.

All: By the Holy Spirit’s power, we confess our weaknesses. You help us to lift up the parts of ourselves that need your help and healing.

Pause for silent confession.

One: God, you search our hearts and intercede for us and help our weaknesses.

All: We know that all things work together for good for those who love you, and we give you thanks for restoring us to health and joy to respond to your call. As your family, renewed, we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Sharing the Peace of Christ

One: The peace of Christ be with you.

All: And also with you.

All are invited to come forward to take a piece of the bread and dip it into the grape juice. If you prefer to remain in your seat, an elder will serve you there. After you have received the gifts of bread and cup, you are welcome to receive prayers for healing and wholeness from the ministers in front of the sanctuary.
